If you operate a business, you know that there are some defining moments in your path, events that affect your life forever.
We’ve all got them.
It may be a keynote speech or a TED lecture you watch on your phone while cuddled up on the couch.
It might be your first cashflow fright (when you pledge yourself you’ll never let this happen again), or it could be someone’s casual remark that truly hits home.
For many, it occurs at the delivery of a child. I’ve seen a lot of company owners who were previously flirting with success really hunker down and seek their objectives with steely swift devotion as soon as they stepped out of the maternity unit, their ideal defining moment wrapped up in fresh blankets.
I’ve been in company for a decade and have had many memorable experiences, including a life-threatening brain injury a few years ago and the births of my three lovely children.
I’ve started businesses, sold them, merged them, and unmerged them. I’ve taken a lot of money out of my enterprises and reinvested it when necessary.
I, too, purchased a Ferrari a few years ago. That has been on my ‘to do’ list for a long, and I’m glad I finally got around to it. I only had it for a year; it ate up cash that I’d rather put in my enterprises or spend time with my family, which is difficult to accomplish with only two seats!
