This presentation will describe a method for increasing the use of OMT in clinical practice and making it easier to precept osteopathic students by providing a clear and concise clinical osteopathic framework for students and faculty to quickly integrate osteopathic principles into any patient encounter.
Objectives of Learning:
Give a framework for thinking about OMT in clinical circumstances.
Provide a plan for what to prioritize during an osteopathic structural assessment.
Increase the clinical usefulness of OMT by making it easier to integrate.
Dr. Nuo is an assistant professor in the department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine at Touro University California – College of Osteopathic Medicine (TUCCOM) (OMM). Dr. Nuo earned his Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree in 2008 from TUCCOM. In December 2012, he graduated from Southampton Hospital’s residency program in neuromusculoskeletal and osteopathic manipulative medicine (NMM/OMM).
Dr. Nuo’s approach to osteopathic medicine has always embraced integrative treatments, and he became board certified in integrative medicine in 2017. He is a firm believer in physician-patient collaboration and thinks people have a natural ability to cure themselves. He is a physician and the proprietor of Seek Optimal Health, P.C., an integrative and holistic medical clinic in Vallejo, CA, in addition to being an assistant professor at TUCCOM.
