The course is divided into two sections, each with five extensive lessons (10 overall in the two-part course) that cover each component of a normal weekday. Arriving at work, checking mail and email, attending office meetings, going to business lunches, dealing with computer difficulties, organizing a meeting, meeting with your supervisor, and interacting with coworkers are all examples of language to learn.

Lesson 1: Having Computer Issues
Almost no one works nowadays without a computer, and nearly everyone has computer difficulties! In this course, you’ll learn the most prevalent ones and how to characterize them. This lesson includes the following topics:
Common computer terms like “mouse” and “keyboard”
There might be several issues with your machine.
“Make headway,” “acting up,” and “a mile a minute” are all idioms.
What happens when you call a “computer tech” to assist you with a problem?
Lesson 2: Planning a Meeting
If you aren’t at a meeting every day, you are most likely preparing one. In this course, you will learn how to approach a coworker, customer, or client about organizing a meeting. This lesson includes the following topics:
A meeting can be scheduled or “put up” in a variety of ways.
The definition and history of the term “playing phone tag.”
Idioms like “the sooner the better” and “free and clear”
The distinction between “tied up” and “free”
Meeting with the Boss (Lesson 3)
Will your manager compliment you or criticize you in your next one-on-one meeting? In this session, you will learn how to tell the difference in English. This lesson includes the following topics:
Workplace jargon like “upgrade,” “progress,” and “raise”
The distinction between “heads up” and “keep your head down”
“Shaking hands” is a frequent American ritual.
“To get a pat on the back” and “to jump the gun” are two idioms.
Lesson 4 – Quitting Your Job
It’s time to call it quits! But don’t unwind until you’ve learnt some typical words and expressions for preparing to leave your workplace and return home. This lesson includes the following topics:
The definition of the common phrase “quitting time”
A definition of the phrase “to burn the midnight oil.”
Vocabulary for taking a weekend off from work
The phrase “here I come” – and the tune that inspired it
Lesson 5: Interacting with Coworkers
So you’re not going home right now. You want to go out and have fun with your coworkers. This session will take you to your neighborhood tavern or restaurant for some post-work cocktails. This lesson includes the following topics:
An explanation of the “happy hour” habit in the United States.
Many restaurants provide various varieties of happy hour meals.
Advice on when it’s a good idea to “change the subject.”
The distinction between “kick back” and “kick off”
