This lecture will teach you when it is acceptable to take a patient into protective custody and the method, laws, and regulations for a physician, hospital, or other healthcare body.

Tim Reuschel is Hannibal Regional Healthcare System’s Vice President and General Counsel. Tim graduated from Truman State University in Kirksville with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri, where he served as Senior Note and Comment Editor of the Missouri Law Review and was inducted to the Order of the Coif in 2000. Tim began his legal career in Kirksville and worked as a partner in many companies until joining HRHS as full-time counsel in 2013. He has written essays on a variety of issues, including contracts, torts, and litigating cases in rural settings. Tim previously served on HRHS’s governing board from 2010 to 2012. Tim oversees the Risk Management, Contract Management, Facilities, Health Information Management, Compliance, and IT Departments of HRHS, as well as providing legal counsel to the CEO, the HRHS Board of Directors, and the Hannibal Regional Hospital Medical Staff. He is the Missouri Society of Healthcare Attorneys’ 2018 Vice President and will be President in 2019. Tim and his wife, Cara, have four amazing, but difficult, children.
