Herbal Medicine Master
Are you a medical practitioner with a green thumb? The new Foundations in Herbal Medicine course will appeal to you. Tieraona Low Dog, MD established and teaches Foundations, an online, distance-learning curriculum for herbal and natural medicine that evolved from a nine-month residential program.
This extensive multimedia course teaches you about herbs from the ground up, from pharmacology and preparation to their influence on all of the body’s systems. Foundations will help you understand how herbal products fit into our current health care system by combining the rich history of herbal therapy with the greatest science.
Dr. Low Dog is a world-renowned herbal expert and educator.
Dr. Low Dog has a unique capacity to simplify tough information, allowing her to teach the most recent botanical research as well as complicated medical ideas in a pleasant and user-friendly manner. She is able to sift through rumour and hyperbole using her clinical expertise and regular evaluation of scientific studies, delivering a credible blend of traditional and evidence-based herbal knowledge in an exciting way.
500 hours of multimedia content
The new Foundations creates a robust and thorough 500-hour learning program by combining recordings of Dr. Low Dog’s classroom lectures, written course material, and a private group page on Facebook. You may also join a three-day Herbal Intensive session at Dr. Low Dog’s ranch in northern New Mexico to get hands-on experience that will supplement the curriculum.
Designed for Medical Professionals and Herbalists
Foundations is intended to serve as a starting point for those interested in learning more about the role of natural medicine in the larger context of health, and it offers fundamental content geared toward doctors.
The course discusses pertinent nutritional therapies and dietary supplements as well as herbal medicine within an integrated and holistic framework. Herbs have an important role in treating chronic diseases as well as minor problems that do not require the forceful hand of Western medicine. Join us now if you’re ready to dive deeper with some of the greatest (and most accurate) information available.

Tieraona’s Remark:
I am a doctor who began her career as a herbalist, midwife, massage therapist, and martial artist. I’ve been exposed to and strongly affected by the knowledge of these places’ grandmothers, midwives, and indigenous peoples. I’ve learned how to harvest, prepare, and utilize therapeutic herbs, massage to relieve pain, assist women in giving birth, and care for the ill. I’ve been beside the bedside as life enters and exits this earth. I’ve sat silently during rituals, soaking in the mystery and magic of them, and seeing the power of prayer and belief. I’ve observed healers calling on the ancestors for strength and guidance, surgeons removing bullets and tumors and transplanting organs, patients near death in the critical care unit walking out well a short time later, and pretty much everything in between.
All of these encounters, from the most profoundly spiritual to the most technologically advanced, have shaped my approach to health and healing, eventually leading me to the field of integrative medicine – a discipline that combines effective natural healing methods, lifestyle, and medically proven treatments. It provides professionals with a broader perspective on health restoration as well as illness prevention and management. It is neither sensible nor sustainable to continue relying on prescription pharmaceuticals to help us focus, fall asleep, elevate our mood, alleviate our pain, suppress a cough, keep our bones healthy, fight off small infections, calm a rash, and settle an upset stomach.
In my role as Fellowship Director for the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine for the past 15 years, I have helped oversee the training of over a thousand doctors and nurses in this common sense approach to health, healing, and wholeness. Now I want to share my expertise and experience with you so that you are comfortable with the “how, what, when, and why” of utilizing natural therapies and when they are not suitable. I encourage you to join me at Medicine Lodge Ranch if you wish to take a deep dive into the field of natural and integrative medicine.
