DescriptionThe Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will now reimburse providers to care for Medicare beneficiaries via TeleHealth anywhere in the country, in any location from nursing homes to patients’ homes, utilizing any device, as of March 17, 2020.
Historically, TeleMedicine appointments were available to less than 1% of Medicare patients. But COVID-19 altered everything. Whether it was due to patient reluctance, provider disinterest, or the fear of negotiating the complex regulatory framework, medical providers and patients have adapted. Previous stringent restrictions that restricted TeleHealth have recently been repealed. In the face of a global catastrophe, that picture has shifted, bringing healthcare professionals and patients back together; it is both likely and hoped that this will continue long beyond the crisis.
Steven Atkinson PA-C, MS has vast expertise providing virtual treatment to patients. He will discuss his clinical views on patient evaluation, possible technological problems, documenting best practices, and reimbursement guidelines.
