Ms. Long works in the Healthcare and Litigation Practice Groups of Krieg DeVault in Indianapolis, IN. She represents and advises the firm’s healthcare clients on a wide range of legal issues, including security breaches and risk assessments involving protected health information and other personal information under HIPAA/HITECH and other Federal and State laws governing the privacy and security of such information, as well as corporate compliance programs and regulatory matters. Ms. Long also counsels and advises companies on HIPAA/HITECH compliance procedures, breach notification duties, and audits conducted by federal and state governments. She also represents individuals and healthcare providers in licensing and disciplinary processes, and she works with mental health practitioners on confidentiality issues and commitment hearings. Ms. Long also represents clients in state and federal courts in a wide range of litigation matters, including tort claims, the preservation of mental health records, commitments to mental health facilities, breach of contract, commercial collections, landlord-tenant disputes, commercial foreclosures, and other commercial disputes. Ms. Long has also represented business clients on-site in their day-to-day activities, including contract negotiation, review, and drafting. Ms. Long has served on the Diversity Committee of the business since its founding. She also belongs to Executive Women in Healthcare, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association.
