This DVD by Blaise Loong is an introduction to his particular Silat blend, Silat Sabungin.
Small sharp weapons such as spikes, hooks, kerambits, ice picks, punch-blades, and short knives are used in this art.
Silat Sabungin is influenced by Indonesian, Malaysian, and Filipino arts, as well as rooster fighting, a blood sport in which birds battle to the death with metal spikes affixed to their legs.

Overview:
Third DVD:
The third DVD explains how to incorporate efficient foot sweeps into traditional armed and unarmed combat techniques, as well as how to transition from standing to ground fighting.
The methods demonstrated are very basic but quite effective.
Groundfighting is a combative sport that focuses on hitting, tearing, and breaking rather than seeking for a tap out win.
Blaise dissects the foot sweep and enters groundfighting with the goal of fighting numerous armed opponents, which leads to some unconventional tactics and follow-ups not found in sport wrestling styles.
The DVD menus were wonderfully animated and operated well.
The music was unique, a blend of hard metal and more traditional folk-style music, and it was all excellent.
The editing was precise, and the montage segments and slow motion scenes blended well with the rest of the production to improve learning.
The DVDs were shot at someone’s home, with the first two in a tiny room and the third in the garage.
Keeping this in mind, the lighting and sound quality are excellent, and I never had any trouble understanding what was spoken or seeing what Blaise was doing.
But it’s not a “Hollywood” production, so what?
Like most people, I’d rather have useful information with a simple presentation than a showy Hollywood-perfect DVD full of garbage!
90 percent of the training presented was done with live blades, and I couldn’t help but grimace when watching some of the high-speed demos at the conclusion of volume three from the comfort of my sofa.
Suffice it to say, these guys know their weapons and their partners extremely well, and the amount of speed and control they demonstrate with live steel is remarkable.
