This lecture is divided into seven sections that include medical information, problem-based learning and improvement, and patient care.
Objectives and goals:
Describe/summarize current recommendations (AACE/ACE, ADA).
Describe a workable method to Medically Assisted Weight Loss.
Define all previous and ongoing Cardiovascular Outcomes Trials (CVOT) and their implications for care.
Present an example, demonstrate how to apply it, and discuss pharmaceutical classifications.

The American Osteopathic Association has accredited the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. This program is designated for a maximum of 2.5 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
Grievance Procedure:
All grievances must be submitted in writing and must indicate the nature of the grievance. All concerns should be submitted to the MAOPS Executive Director first, who will convey them to the Education & Convention Committee. Within 30 days after receipt, all complains will get a first written answer. If the participant does not get a sufficient response, they may file a written complaint with the AOA’s Bureau of Osteopathic Education at 142 East Ontario Street, Chicago, IL 60611.
Linda MacGorman, MD works at CoxHealth’s Adult Medicine & Endocrinology Specialists in Springfield, Missouri. She is also the Medical Director of the CoxHealth Diabetes Center and a board member of the American Diabetes Association’s Southwest Missouri regional branch. Dr. MacGorman graduated from May Medical School, then completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center and an endocrinology fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology & Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. James Bonucchi is the Clinical Lab Director and Endocrine Consultant at Adult Medicine & Endocrine Specialists, CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri. He earned his medical degree from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and his residency in internal medicine at the University of Iowa. He then attended the University of Iowa for an Endocrine Fellowship. Dr. Bonucchi is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He contributes to his profession as a member of the Joint Operations Committee and many Electronic Health Records Committees. Dr. Bonucchi is also a KCOM Alumni Ambassador.
