I’ve been teaching folks the art of persuasion for more years than I want to recall. And my clients have sold high-priced goods such as houses, automobiles, and retirement plans. I’ve assisted folks in moving from zero to six and seven figures more times than I can count.

So I purchased a handful of Amazon’s most popular books on sales and selling and… I was surprised.
Anyone who expected to sell based on these courses was in for a surprise. After the patient died, their closing rates would resemble a flat line on an EKG equipment. These classes were completely useless.
To be sure, there were a few classes that were worthwhile. However, it was as uncommon as discovering diamonds in African mud. And I couldn’t help but agree.
There was practically no use in taking these classes. In fact, even if you have a natural flair for sales, most of these courses will reduce your sales.
Some of these courses were given to me by folks on my list. In reality, several of these courses might have benefited society better if they had been discarded before to printing.
Sheesh. Even in the twenty-first century, people are still teaching the Ben Franklin and Puppy Dog close. Yes, when people were selling encyclopedias to people who couldn’t read, they worked. And they did an excellent job of selling televisions to individuals who did not have access to electricity (you could have sold them empty boxes.)
But where it truly mattered…
Even the finest of such courses were ineffective because…
They Were All Lacking A Crucial Ingredient
Your sales success is not determined by your close. In fact, by the time you close, you’ve most likely lost the transaction.
In fact, if you weren’t aware of the Three Four Letter Words, you probably missed out on more sales than you should have!
Please allow me to demonstrate this with a tale.
Once upon a time, there was a lawyer who aspired to practice personal injury law.
But everyone warned him that the field was too packed for him to break onto.
This young lawyer, you see, knew something that other people didn’t: he didn’t understand the meaning of the phrase CAN’T.
So he approached other more experienced attorneys and said, “Do you have any cases that you CANNOT win?” “Are there any impossible cases?”
He went on to suggest that if the attorneys offered him CAN’T WIN cases, he would pay them half of the revenues.
And the attorneys opened their files and gave him all of the cases that he couldn’t win.
And guess what this brash young lawyer did? That’s correct. He won every single one of these instances because he didn’t know what the phrase “CAN’T” meant.

Your revenue would skyrocket!
Because selling doesn’t start with a huge toothy grin (like it says in some of the books.)
And it doesn’t start with bobbing your head from side to side like Mr. Bobble Head (like it says in dozens of books)
It starts considerably sooner than that.
