The following is an excerpt from a letter I received from two “schmegeggies” (two normal people like you) who invested in my system and found success as a direct result.
“Our Wives Laughed at Us When We Told Them About Joel—But When The Cash Started Coming In Their Laughter Turned to Joy and Their Doubt Melted Away” How an über-alpha man wearing a pink tie transformed the trajectory of our lives in less than 90 days, and why our story concerns you.
We took a 7-hour road trip to Atlanta in November of 2005 for a free boot camp. You know, we couldn’t afford plane tickets from Orlando, so we drove instead. We hit the road the following morning and made good time back home. Soon after making the purchase, we discovered we had no idea what we were getting. It was almost as if we were captivated, as if we had made a purchase without fully comprehending the implications. After a few of weeks our system eventually arrived. It was Thanksgiving weekend. However, we decided to open the package and give the DVDs a try despite our skepticism. We ignored our family and spent the whole weekend cooped up in a room with the TV. The wives in the office were going completely bonkers. The flight attendant who served me sent me this letter. We just spoke for a few seconds, but apparently I made a big enough impression on her that she felt compelled to send me a letter. From her message, it’s clear that she would put herself second in a life-or-death situation, with “me” being the recipient of her first priority rescue. So, how’s that for making an entry?
There are two types of people:
If you were to choose a category, which one would you be in?
The globe may be roughly divided into two groups. In the first category, members are few and far between. They are the folks who achieve phenomenal success, have ample resources to pursue their passions, and never have to worry about money again.
They are able to do this because they are skilled at introducing themselves within the first four seconds, showing the other person why they need them, and convincing them to take the next step in developing a connection.
The second category includes everyone else—those who have trouble conveying their needs and desires. People who put their fortunes in the hands of chance and who, after spending countless hours beating their heads against the wall, never seem to make any progress, are included in this category.
Do I differ from you in any way?
Spinal meningitis affected me from birth. Someone had informed my mom that I was going to die. Their reasoning was that sending her home would save her the trauma of seeing her kid in an incubator. For two weeks, they just left me in the incubator. I took an experimental medicine that had a 98.2% mortality rate in youngsters, but here I am.
The next seven years of my life were spent sitting alone in a corner, occupying myself with a scrap of paper. I was unable to pass any of the elementary grades. All of my mother’s friends and relatives believed I was dumb, an idiot, and hopeless, but she said I was the best behaved kid in the world.
Thankfully, my mother uprooted me from Philadelphia to upstate New York, where I have been able to avoid all the nastiness. She hoped no one would think I was mentally retarded. My life changed when I was seven years old and I was exposed to magic.
I started making $30,000 a year at 13 years old by performing at birthday and Bar Mitzvah celebrations. I started performing on Carnival Cruise Lines’ stages when I was 15 years old, and a year later I was the cruise industry’s youngest featured artist.
Later in life, I put my expertise to work assisting major corporations in capturing the attention of potential clients at some of the world’s greatest trade exhibitions. Everyone—your prospects, your customers your friends and family—all long to have this back. You see, when you think like a child your imagination is free and then you can achieve anything.
Even if only for a second…they long to feel the freedom and power of child like curiosity. If you can master this skill you can create opportunities to transform the moment for everyone you interact with. Get them to feel good and at the same time give yourself a prime opportunity to present yourself, persuade them to your way of thinking and ultimately preserve that relationship for life.
