Description
Auto Layout enables us to develop and lay out UI components within our app that are responsive to the form factor and orientation of the user’s device. It will automatically calculate the positions and sizes of the UI components to deliver a consistent user experience in the iOS app across devices, and with more and more device form factors being introduced, mastering auto layout is critical, and as developers, we must be very comfortable dealing with it.
In iOS, auto layout takes a constraint-based approach, which means we specify constraints for each UI component that will adjust to both external (e.g., device size, rotation) and internal (e.g., internationalization) changes. To create our layout restrictions, we will use both the Xcode storyboard technique and a programmatic approach using Swift in this course. In some circumstances, the programmatic approach may be the only option, especially if the restrictions must be changed at runtime.
This course covers a lot of ground:
Size classifications depending on orientation
Priority of constraints
Proportional restrictions
Compression and cuddling of content
Update at runtime
anchor for layout
NSLayoutConstraint
Language of Visual Format
Tableview cell that is dynamic
Stackview
Scrollview
By the end of this tutorial, you should be comfortable working with auto layout in your project.
