Drs. Gregory Lester and Alan Godwin, clinical psychologists and personality disorder experts, will provide a fascinating lecture that will provide practical, must-know strategies for not just treating these difficult clients but also others who are left in their poisonous aftermath.
Dr. Lester begins by delving deeper into the clinical evaluation of personality disorders, as well as the most prevalent difficulties encountered when working with this subset of individuals. He’ll go over:
The root of the personality disorder: a constantly shifting agenda
Why does this clientele behave the way it does
How to differentiate between the most common and subtle personality disorders
Personality Disorder-Trait Specific (PD-TS) and other general personality disorder criteria
Navigation of transference and countertransference difficulties that is meaningful
Why these clients’ therapeutic limits may differ
How to spot (often subtle) indicators of manipulation – and what to do about it!
And a lot more!
Dr. Godwin continues the discussion, concentrating on how to deal effectively with both individuals with personality disorders and those who (repeatedly?) find themselves in their emotional crosshairs. Dr. Godwin, known for his clear manner and effective treatments, expertly covers:
How to teach assertive communication, healthy boundaries, and limit setting to clients to help them recognize deceptive conduct and patterns in relationships
Strategies for enhancing therapeutic success with manipulative clients
The emotional tranquility that comes from avoiding drama and sidebars in session 5 must-know indicators your client is influencing you
Methods for dealing with typical therapy-interfering behaviors
And even more!
Don’t pass up this opportunity to learn from top-rated presenters in their respective fields.
