SEXUAL ABUSE IN APRIL
Viewing case histories causes anxiety in a pupil. The session begins with Gestalt dream work, followed by age regression, which discloses sexual assault. April had the conviction that her genitals were “filthy,” and this thought became a reoccurring motif in her life, that she was awful and “dirty.” April connects with her suppressed hatred and anger, and cathartic venting happens. The application of Transforming TherapyTM approaches fosters a readiness to begin the process of forgiving others and oneself. This indicates that the victim of sexual abuse can regain self-esteem without physically or verbally assaulting the offender. Client is no longer required to remain the “victim” or to seek retaliation.

WEIGHT CONTROL AND CAREER MOTIVATION IN KRISTEN
A 27-year-old former “Miss Los Angeles” tells Boyne that her failure to control her weight has made her life difficult and jeopardized her acting career. Boyne soon recognizes a deep fear of criticism and rejection, and Kristen finds how she utilizes her extra weight as a defense mechanism against her own sexuality and to avoid taking the required steps to establish an acting career (i.e., “I can’t begin as long as I’m overweight.”). Boyne employs age regressions, Gestalt dialogues, “Saying Goodbye,” and a novel kind of suggestion programming in three Transforming Therapy sessions. Kristen recognizes the significant subconscious influence of her mother’s negative recommendations and her jealous boyfriend’s angry declaration, “You’ll have to sleep with a lot of guys to become a successful actress.” These and other suggestions have solidified into a subconscious script. “Actors are all immoral whores.” Kristen has a new knowledge of her own responsibility for her weight gain as her view of her emotion-driven conduct shifts. She asserts boldly that she can now manage her weight, her family connections, and pursue her acting profession.

WM. S. KROGER, M.D. performed THYROIDECTOMY SURGERY WITH HYPNOANESTHESIA.
Dr. Kroger, a clinical professor at U.C.L.A. and author of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis (published by J. B. Lippincott Company), displays induction and deepening as well as glove anesthesia in a 27-year-old thyroid illness patient.
The patient is trained to produce glove anesthesia and to transfer anesthesia to the neck during the course of seven training sessions. The fifth session is a surgical operation rehearsal, replete with surgical tools and a vocal explanation of each step to the hypnotic patient.
The patient is hypnotized and anesthetized in the surgical amphitheater, and the surgery is filmed and described. To reduce bleeding, Dr. Kroger induces entire body catalepsy. Corneal reflexes vanish during hypnosis. The patient is able to walk immediately following surgery.
