In this lecture, the speaker uses EKGs and examples to teach students how to spot patterns and situations.
By the end of the presentation, students should be able to:
* Explain how common skin problems manifest in different skin types.
* Assess pigmentary changes in skin of color.
* Describe the adverse effects of common standard treatments for skin of color.
The Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians and designates this program for a maximum of 1.0 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician’s participation in this activity.
Dia A. Smiley, DO is a non-invasive cardiologist in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2008, she received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. After completing a research fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, she returned to Ohio to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Cincinnati, as well as an Adult Cardiology Fellowship. She also completed an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.
