There were two webpages not long ago.
They were in distinct markets, yet they had the same design and were almost similar. The same writer wrote the sales text for both. They both employed the same technique. They both charged the same amount for digital things. In addition, both websites received the same quantity of visitors.
The first website had made $149 in sales after 30 days.
And the second website had produced $50,362 in revenues after 30 days.
Why did one website outsell the other by 338 to one? It was the concept underlying the product that was being offered. One website has a fantastic product concept. And not so much for the other.
I know because I constructed and operated those websites…those were my things being sold…
and these were my excellent (and bad) ideas.

What kind of camera should you use? Should you utilize a LeadPages landing page? Should you use a shopping cart like SamCart? Which web hosting business should you go with? What kind of sales video should you create? And the list of things you worry about is endless.
Get this straight: those things do not important. They are capricious. You may replace one camera with another, one landing page service with another, and one web host with another… It will have no bearing on your success or failure.
However, your product or company concept will have a significant impact…it will be the difference between failure and success.
If your concept is good, you may have the worst-looking website, the slowest web host, and the worst marketing ever…
and your goods will continue to sell.
If your concept is poor, you can put all the money in the world at it and nothing will change.
WHICH BRINGS US TO THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION: HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH GOOD IDEAS FOR SELLING PRODUCTS?
Let us begin with what you DO NOT DO. If your hot, new concept is a good one, ask your significant other, your neighbor, your buddies, or the man washing tables at the coffee shop. Their comments are useless unless they’ve sold a crap-ton of items online.
Guessing will not help you either. While you’re lying in bed at midnight, the idea in your brain may seem like a definite hit, the Internet has different plans for it. It’s seen your proposal 10,000 times and isn’t impressed.
There is a method to creating good product ideas…a technical and mental science.
On the technological side, you must conduct highly specific study. Not just checking to see if anyone else has the same idea as you or if the domain you want is available, but a specific formula that will tell you if people will stop in their tracks to look at your idea, if they’ll open up their wallet to pay you for that idea, and how much profit that little idea in your head could actually generate. There will be no guesswork, no fanciful guesses, just a unique, methodical approach that will provide you with actionable hard statistics.
On the mental side, you must engage in what I refer to as IDEA CIRCUMVENTION. The Internet no longer contains anything original. Everything has already been done, and many people have had your concept. So you get around this by recasting the objective of your concept into a different form…where your prospects will see something they’ve never seen before and that no one else provides. Idea evasion is profound, eerie stuff. However, it is one of the most powerful abilities you can have.
When you integrate technological and mental processes, your challenges change dramatically. You no longer have to strive to come up with creative ideas for things that will sell… However, your most difficult difficulty will be selecting which of your ideas can earn the most profit with the least amount of effort and in the shortest length of time. It’s a fun “issue” to have.
SO, HERE’S A QUESTION FOR YOU: HOW SUCCESSFUL HAVE YOUR PRODUCT IDEAS BEEN?
The majority of people fall into one of two types.
THE HOPELESS – It appears that you are unable to generate any ideas. Or your finest ideas are already monopolized by other companies. Or you’ve tried one or two ideas and the results were awful. Alternatively, trying out all of your ideas will take much too much time and money. Whatever the situation may be, you’re out of luck. You’re at a loss for what to do next. You’re feeling…hopeless.
THE DELUSIONAL – You launched a full-fledged campaign for your product concept, and it flopped spectacularly. However, that was not your fault. You should have sought counsel from a different marketing expert. You should’ve used another funnel. You should have created a new landing page. You should have created a new Facebook ad. You should have utilized a different product offer. Whatever the reason, the simple line is that your product concept was terrible. That concludes the narrative. And by refusing to recognize that truth, you have become…delusional.
I CAN GUARANTEE YOU TWO THINGS: IF YOU KEEP DOING WHAT YOU’VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU’LL KEEP GETTING THE SAME, NON-EXISTENT RESULTS.
You can change the technologies and platforms you utilize as much as you like. You are free to attend as many marketing events as you wish. You may change your advertising as often as you wish. Nothing will change since you are not addressing the fundamental reason (bad product ideas).

But there is one word of caution. One good concept isn’t going to cut it. Many people have been fortunate…once. However, as business and the Internet grow, more good ideas are required to survive. They are unable to produce them because they lack idea talents. And their company vanishes.
By strengthening your idea muscles, you not only get to enjoy the fruits of your wonderful ideas now, but you also protect yourself in the future. The ability to generate lucrative ideas is the one (and only) skill that never changes. That is never necessary to relearn. Everything else on the Internet…web pages, advertising, video…has to be learnt all over again…usually every couple of years. When it comes to producing successful ideas, however, you only need to understand how to do it once and then do it on a regular basis. If you do that, you’ll always be golden. Isn’t it strange how the most vital talent is the one that is most often overlooked…and also the one that only has to be mastered once? In 1995, I created my first product from a concept. It was a cassette-tape set that taught seniors how to use computers. Clearly, given the concept and approach, I had no idea what I was doing. And it was a complete failure. It was painful, but I learnt. Several months later, I had my next product idea…a book about a far more filthy subject. It sold for more than $700,000 before I sold the rights to it. I’ve never looked back since.
The point is that I’ve been doing this for quite some time. There are several products. There are several marketplaces. And a slew of product ideas spawned by the brain inside my now-hairless skull.
