1 hour and 38 minutes in length
Audio-Only Format

DescriptionDescription:
Julia Babcock’s recent meta-analysis demonstrates that same-sex group treatment for domestic violence is unsuccessful. Many states make couple’s therapy unlawful. We will describe the findings (and techniques) for treating solely situational (rather than characterological) domestic violence, which demonstrate great efficacy with long-term impacts after 18 months. The Gottman-method curriculum is used in treatment, including 21 sessions of couples group therapy.
Objectives of Education:
Distinguish between situational and characterological domestic violence.
Describe the use of a reliable questionnaire for differentiating between the two types of domestic abuse.
Show how to deal situational domestic violence appropriately.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
