Certain types of childhood events, according to research, clearly establish the groundwork for a wide range of mental and physical disorders. According to clinical and neurobiological studies, EMDR treatment targets the physiological foundation of clinical symptoms and dysfunction. Participants will be able to evaluate the implications of this study and its application to clinical practice through group activities, case descriptions, and treatment videos. Individual, family, and social concerns will be addressed in clinical cases.
Objectives of Education:
Describe the types of life events that lead to clinical dysfunction.
Explain how EMDR treatment may be used to treat a variety of therapeutic issues.
Describe the ideas and practices of EMDR treatment for determining the cause of clinical symptoms.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*

Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., is the creator and developer of EMDR, which has been so thoroughly investigated that it is now recognized as an effective treatment for trauma in the American Psychiatric Association’s Practice Guidelines, as well as those of the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Dr. Shapiro is an Emeritus Senior Research Fellow at the Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, California, the Executive Director of the EMDR Institute in Watsonville, California, and the founder and President Emeritus of the Trauma Recovery EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs, a non-profit organization that coordinates disaster response and low-cost trainings worldwide.
