DescriptionDescription:
Traditional trauma therapy methods stress a narrative approach based on the traumatic experiences, a very long, difficult, and painful approach in which clients grow worse before they get better. Rather than ‘treating’ the events, neuroscience teaches us how to address the consequences of those experiences. Trauma symptoms become understandable and curable when they are “decoded” as evidence of how individuals survived. Clients are recruited as active partners in the therapy, and they are taught about trauma-related responses, assuring them that they are not inept or insane. Best of all, a short treatment model may be relational without the’side affects’ of long-term therapeutic interactions.
Objectives of Education:
Define the term “living legacy” in relation to trauma.
Describe the stages of trauma brief treatment.
Determine three somatic therapies for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
