Building on Milton Erickson, MD’s contributions, therapists can expand their practice by using evocative strategies learned from researching codes of influence in the arts. The artist and the therapist both strive to change perception, modify and broaden viewpoints, and stir the human heart. Therapists might investigate ways to harness untapped features of their medium by drawing links between the artist’s palette and the clinician’s typical toolset.

List three types of evocative communication that can help treatment.

He has edited, co-edited, produced, or coauthored more than 20 works on psychotherapy, which have been published in twelve different languages. Dr. Zeig is a psychologist and marital and family therapist in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona.
