Original Show Date: December 9, 2018 Description:Description:
What if our therapy aims of increasing self-esteem, building a solid and consistent sense of self, and expressing true feelings are all misguided? What if they unintentionally support the societal obsession with stardom and prosperity that makes so many of us unhappy? This talk will look at how mindfulness techniques may be used in psychotherapy to help us and our clients rethink our traditional sense of self, leading to increased well-being, knowledge, and compassion.
Objectives of Education:
Describe how the need for high self-esteem causes psychological discomfort.
Identify methods that will assist clients in acting more effectively and freely as they become less worried with narcissistic worries.
Describe how mindfulness techniques might assist clients in integrating disavowed or separated components of their experience.*Content and confidentiality may be modified during sessions*
