DescriptionUnderstanding how trauma changes and dysregulates brain activity allows for the development of cutting-edge therapy approaches that directly target disrupted neural networks.
One such treatment, Neurofeedback, leverages recent research results that relate neuronal pathways and brain areas affected by the trauma with executive functioning, safety, sense of self, different self-states, bodily based aspects (e.g. physical balance, movement, voice modulation, interoceptive sensations) shame and agency.
This recording brings together researchers, clinicians, and neurofeedback practitioners who are investigating how we may integrate trauma neuroscience into therapeutic practice through psychotherapy, biofeedback, massage, and mindfulness.
The tape will begin with an introduction of the fundamentals of neurofeedback, followed by a review of existing research with practical applications. Following that, we’ll look at how neurofeedback might help with developmental trauma by relaxing the fear-driven brain and increasing emotion control. The significant part of the recording will be dedicated to incorporating neurofeedback into therapeutic settings.
PLEASE NOTE: This is the same content as the 30th Annual International Trauma Conference; if you have previously attended the live seminars, you will not be able to get self-study credit for this program.
