Since 2000, Creighton J. Cohn has concentrated his practice in consumer law and personal injury. In addition to personal injury claims, he represents individuals in areas such as inaccurate credit reporting, consumer fraud, unfair and deceptive actions, abusive debt collection, debtors’ rights, identity theft, and warranty and lemon law. He is a regular lecturer on consumer law issues. He has handled countless consumer and personal injury cases, as well as numerous mediations and arbitrations. In 2000, he earned a degree in mediation from the University of Missouri – Columbia, and he volunteers as a mediator for the Missouri Bar Fee Dispute Resolution Committee. Mr. Cohn graduated from St. Louis University School of Law in 1998 and is admitted to practice in Missouri, Illinois, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. His company is based in Clayton, Missouri.
DeHardt, Jay

Mr. DeHardt was born in Independence, Missouri in 1952 and presently resides in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Van Horn High School in 1970, attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Rockhurst College in Kansas City in 1974. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1977. Since 1977, he has actively practiced law before the Missouri Supreme Court, the Missouri Court of Appeals-Western District, and the Kansas Supreme Court, as well as the United States Federal District Court for the Western District of Missouri and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Tenth Circuits. He was previously an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Assistant Public Defender in Jackson County, Missouri. Mr. DeHardt was a principal in the firm of McQuain, DeHardt & Rosenbloom, P.C. for 30 years and is currently a stakeholder in Shipman & DeHardt, P.C.
Mr. DeHardt represents persons in divorce and custody disputes, state and federal criminal law, DWI and traffic defense, death sentence defense, personal injury and wrongful death claims, OSHA claims defense, and civil claims defense.
He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers, the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Mr. DeHardt has held a number of appointive and elective positions in legal professional organizations. He is a former President of the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (1993-94), a former Vice-Chairman (1992), Chairman (1993), Vice-Chairman (1998), and Chairman (1999) of the KCMBA’s Family Law Committee, and a former member of the Small Firms/Solo Practitioners Committee.
Mr. DeHardt served on the Case Flow Management Committee of the Jackson County Circuit Court (1993-94), the ADR-Parent Education Sub-Committees of the Family Court Implementation Committee (1993-94), and the Jackson County Circuit Court Advisory Committee. He is a Domestic Relations Mediator recognized by the Jackson County Circuit Court and a certified neutral in the Western District of Missouri’s “Early Assessment Program.”
Mr. DeHardt was named to the Missouri Lawyers Trust Account Foundation’s Board of Directors by the Kansas City Bar Foundation in 1996. (IOLTA). In 2002, he was elected President of IOLTA.
Mr. DeHardt spent three terms as an at-large member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association Board of Directors (1995-96; 1997-00). He previously served as President of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (2004).
Mr. DeHardt is a father of five children.
Read, Sarah

Sarah Read has over 30 years of dispute mediation expertise. She was a partner at Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago, Illinois, before coming to Missouri, where she worked in the Antitrust, Commercial and Regulatory Litigation division and the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) resource group. She has mediated a wide range of matters, including business and communal disagreements. She has also assisted numerous clients, including individuals, corporations, organizations, and community groups, in resolving issues while working as a resolution counsel. Stewart, Betsy T.

Ms. Stewart earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and philosophy from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois in 1964. She earned her J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1967, and she also taught family law practice for about ten (10) years.
She has been a private practitioner for over fifty (50) years. Her current practice focuses on dispute resolution and disability law.
She belongs to the Missouri Bar, the Eastern Jackson County Bar Association, the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City, the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Heartland Mediators Association, and the Missouri Association of Mediators. She has over 400 hours of training and has spent over 300 hours lecturing, teaching, and coaching others. She has been a mediator for over thirty (30) years, as well as an arbitrator and a facilitator.
