Debra Premashakti Alvis, PhD, a licensed psychologist, founded the Mind/Body Program at the University of Georgia, which offers clinicians training in the use of mindfulness and contemplative practices into psychotherapy. Her duties as a professor at the University of Georgia included PhD student supervision and co-leading a research team exploring mindfulness.
Dr. Alvis has more than 25 years of clinical expertise treating clients with a range of illnesses using mindfulness concepts, body-oriented ideas, and traditional psychotherapy techniques, in addition to teaching. She has also had a personal contemplative practice for over 30 years.
