Choy Lay Fut (Cantonese) is a Chinese martial arts system developed by Chan Heung in 1836.
Choy Li Fut was called after the Buddhist monk Choy Fook, who taught him Choy Gar, his uncle Chan Yuen-Wu, who taught him Li Gar, and the Buddha, after whom the art was named.
Choy Lay Fut combines martial arts techniques from various Northern and Southern Chinese kung-fu systems, including the powerful arm and hand techniques of the Shaolin animal forms from the South, as well as the extended, circular movements, twisting body, and agile footwork that characterize Northern Chinese martial arts.
It is classified as an external style since it combines soft and harsh techniques and includes a broad range of weapons in its curriculum.
Choy Lay Fut is a powerful self-defense strategy that is especially effective against many assailants.
It includes a wide range of techniques including as punches, kicks, sweeps and take downs, pressure point strikes, joint locks, and grappling.
Lun Ma Ng (Five Wheels Horse)
The System’s foundational set teaches stances and footwork.
Lun Chui Ng (Five Wheels Hammer)
Ng Lun Chui expands on Ng Lun Ma by teaching new Strikes and Kicks.
Instead of the customary Yum Tsop, Lau Kiu, Kwa Chui, and Cheong Ngan Chui combo, Liang Nai Zhao does Kwa Chui, Sow Chui, Ping Choi, Cheong Ngan Chui, Yum Tsop, and Lau Kiu.
