Toni Herbine-Intrapsychic Blank’s and Interpersonal Integration in Couples Therapy
This program will look at Internal Family Systems theory and practice with couples. When using IFS with couples, the therapist invites exploration of each partner’s individual inner life and also assists couples in envisioning a lively dance that includes communicating well, repairing inevitable rupture, making room for both individuals’ and the relationship’s needs, and exploring Self-to-Self connection.
This four-part course will explore the fundamental protocols of Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO), such as tracking sequences or painful patterns of contact, Courageous Communication, and why performing deep intrapsychic work with one person while the other witnesses is a therapeutic intervention.
Module 1
Introduction to Intimacy from Within
In this section, we’ll look at the evolution of IFIO, including an overview of the model’s assumptions, aims, and main components. We’ll go through the fundamental road map and processes.
Module 2
Sequences of Tracking
This subject examines how couples argue, the issue of protectors, and how to start breaking bad habits of interaction. We also invite each partner to look within as a means of resolving disagreement.
Module 3
Communication of Courage
In this section, we look at how unblending and affect regulation may help couples have safe and bold talks.
Module 4
In the Presence of a Partner, Individual Work
We will examine why working with a person in the presence of their spouse is beneficial to a couple in this session. We also discuss the need of maintaining a safe and predictable triangle in order for the job to be effective.
