Everyone gets the standard pamphlet at the doctor’s office on all the other health issues that will arise during a woman’s life: puberty, safer sex, pregnancy, pap smears…but they never seem to have one for menopause. However, most women will tell you that entering menopause means significant changes in their overall well-being.
This session was put together in a flash, a hot flash.
It is past time for us to take matters into our own hands and recognize that there are things we can do to age well and on our own terms.
Jessica Hill, PT, DPT, MSPT, CSCS, SFMA, FMS, will discuss the physiological changes that occur and how they affect our physical performance and overall health. You will learn effective strategies for overcoming menopausal anxiety and keeping your patients striving to be their best.
You’ll learn about targeted interventions that address the key musculoskeletal changes that typically accompany menopause, such as increased visceral fat and decreased bone mineral density, muscle mass, and strength. You will learn practical exercise strategies for gaining a physiological advantage in aging optimally.
Jessica Hill, PT DPT MSPT CSCS SFMA FMS, is a Physical Therapist, the founder of Movement Matters LLC in Vermont, and a RockTape USA instructor. She has over 18 years of clinical experience in general orthopedics, sports medicine, industrial rehabilitation, pre- and post-operative care, performance enhancement, personal training, and injury prevention. She has worked with patients/clients of all ages and movement levels, from the most sedentary to the most active, including athletes of all levels, law enforcement, and the military. She is committed to making the world a better place through movement and lives by the motto “always leave it better than I found it, whatever it is.”
